Being an Aussie I am having a little giggle about the word "bangs". Where did it come from? We call it a "fringe" here and I can see where that term came from but "bangs"????? Anyone know the origin of the name?

It's one of those very distinctly American words. You call diapers "nappies" though, so we are even.

I use bangs when I am dealing with mostly Americans and fringe when I suspect using bangs may get me wailed on. heh.

I think what I find historically inaccurate is the type/amount of bangs. Even if people had bangs during these eras, these are more '80s style bangs. This type of haircut was very popular when the dolls were released. I had the same haircut as Molly (including sideburns cut--ew!). But if you look at the hairstyles of their (Samantha's, Molly's and Kirsten's) friends and family members in the books, those usually look more "historically accurate."

I read Reminisce all of the time--it has photos from many generations--and have never seen this type of hairstyle on any person. It seems to be more of an "'80s cut."
